Story Notes: Wolverine arrives in Japan to confront Mariko about her marriage to another man. He ends up dueling her father, Lord Shingen and loses. Yukio befriends Wolverine, who is concerned about the safety of Mariko. He discovers a plot to assassinate Mariko, who is shocked by the mayhem that Wolverine causes. Meanwhile, Yukio betrays Wolverine just as the secret ninja clan, The Hand, interfere.Wolverine faces Lord Shingen in a final confrontation. At the conclusion, Mariko and Wolverine are to marry. The storyline continues in Uncanny X-Men 172-173.
