Story Notes: These issues feature the very first Wolverine vs, Sabretooth fight in comic history. In the story, Sabretooth and Wolverine are already aware of each other and are revealed to the reader to be longtime enemies. Writer Chris Claremont had introduced Sabretooth almost 10 years earlier in Iron Fist #14 as a brutal mercenary. He had always intended the character to be an antagonist to Wolverine but was unable to work the character’s story into the group oriented book of X-Men. This issue sparked numerous debates on the relationship of the characters. This included the possibility that Sabretooth was Wolverine’s father. The issue is part of the larger Mutant Massacre storyline the ran for several issues in X-Factor, New Mutants, Power Pack, Uncanny X-Men, and Thor.

The Mutant Massacre storyline focused on the evil Marauders attempting to wipe out the Morlock mutants that live underneath New York City. The storyline is famous for introducing the first Wolverine and Sabertooth fight in comics. Although the characters had existed for over a decade in the Marvel Universe, this storyline featured their first encounter in the 2 parts Uncanny X-Men #212-213. The storyline also introduced a new enemy group called the Marauders, their motive marks a more violent trend in comics that was emerging towards the end of the Copper Age (1982-1991). Although Mr. Sinister is mentioned as the architect of the plot, he does not actually appear until Uncanny X-Men # 221.

Batman # 428 Death of Jason Todd Robin II
Condition Notes: Mid-Grade Condition with minimal cover wear. Item Notes: Batman # 428 features the Death of Jason Todd (Robin II). Jason Todd, the second Robin, was controversial from his inception as a replacement for Dick Grayson (the first Robin). Created by Gerry Conway for Batman #357, Todd was a mirror image of Dick Grayson with the exception that he had blonde hair that he dyed when appearing as Robin. After Crisis on Infinite Earths, Jason Todd's origin was dramatically altered to re-envision him as street kid. Jason Todd hereafter was depicted as questioning, petulant and had a tendency to be more extreme than Batman, even killing in one instance. In the Death In The Family storyline Jason Todd as Robin had been beaten by the Joker. The end of the comic featured a 1-900 telephone number to allow fans to determine his fate. While an alternate ending was created to show Robin had lived, the fan vote determined the fate of Jason Todd to die. Batman #428 revealed the outcome of the fan vote.
