Uncanny X-Men Annual # 14  1st app. Gambit

Days of Future Present Pt. 4

Date: July, 1990

Creative Team: Arthur Adams (Artist), Chris Claremont (Writer)

Condition Notes: Very Good

Story Notes: This is the first appearance of Gambit preceding his appearance in Uncanny X-Men #266 by a month.

In this issue the future villain Ahab returns to destroy the X-Men. The time-traveller comes from Phoenix II’s timeline and is followed by the adult Franklin Richards. The Fantastic Four, New Mutants and Cable, and X-Factor join the X-Men in the battle. The story also reconciles Jean Grey and her future daughter Rachel Summers (Phoenix II).

The Uncanny X Men Annual was released for the Summer. Because of its earlier scheduling, an editor’s box explains that the story takes place after Uncanny X-Men 266-267 which would not be released until August. Here, Gambit is a background character seen throughout the story and has some speaking lines.
