Signature Notes: This full page Superman Newspaper Comic Strip dates to 1947 and has been signed by both Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. This comic strip came from the Jerry Siegel estate. During the 1970’s-80’s, Joe Shuster would sign these comic strips to give to Jerry Siegel to sell at conventions. He did this because Jerry Siegel was the writer and would otherwise have nothing to sell.

Story Notes: Clark Kent applies for the Daily Planet’s Medical Insurance Policy to protect his secret identity. He purposely attempts to fail the tests, and afterwards suffers goading by Lois Lane.
Signature Notes: This full page Superman Newspaper Comic Strip dates to 1947 and has been signed by both Superman creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. During the 1970’s-80’s, Joe Shuster would sign these comic strips to give to Jerry Siegel to sell at conventions. This comic strip came from the Jerry Siegel estate via the archives of the Superman Museum in Metropolis, Illinois run by Jim Hambrick. This comic strip was acquired in 2013 directly from Hambrick when he decided to sell selected comic strips from the archive.
Hambrick wrote:
“This Original Comic Strip from the 1940’s is authentic with a dual autograph/signature by the creators of Superman! Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. A true piece of our American Popular Culture. Jerry Siegel used to collect strips of his most famous creation (Superman) from all over the United States. Many years later, he decided to sign and sell them at personal appearances. This Sunday Superman Strip was purchased by Jerry and Joe in the late 1970’s. Eventually, many other important wardrobe pieces, costumes, props, original scripts, films, and related documents made its way to the archives of the Superman Museum in Metropolis, Illinois “Home of Superman.” Jim Hambrick made the difficult and fair decision to share these autographed 1940’s Comic Strips with some of Superman’s most devoted fans.”
Condition: Full Page Sunday Color Strip is in excellent condition with minimal wear. Paper quality is good.
